Producer/Content Strategist

Meet Hanna Glas, a professional soccer player at PSG Women’s in the Championnat de France de Football Féminin. Hanna competed the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup as a member of the Sweden (Sverige) Women’s National Team. The team exceeded expectations and placed 3rd overall to capture the bronze medal.

I was fortunate enough to speak with Hanna right before she took off for the 2019 Women’s World Cup. Hanna and I chatted about her playing career, how she got started, favorite activities outside of playing, and more.

How did you get started in soccer/football?

I have an older brother who was playing when I was little, I really looked up to him and because he played, I really wanted to play too. So that’s pretty much how it started.

What would you say is your biggest career success so far?

Hanna Glas signs with PSG
Hanna moved to PSG in 2018 from Eskilstuna United

I would say my biggest career successes so far are qualifying for the 2019 Women’s World Cup and signing for PSG.

What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve encountered so far in your playing career?

My biggest challenges would be my three ACL injuries that I had, the first one was tough, the second one was even tougher, but the third one was the toughest one.

Favorite pitch you’ve played on?

I’d have to say Stade Jean-Bouin, [PSG’s] home arena, because we have the most amazing fans ever.

Outside of playing soccer/football, what do you like to do?

I like to watch TV shows, Netflix, hang out with friends, eat good food, just to enjoy myself.

What was the last thing you watched on Netflix?

The movie Mowgli [Legend of the Jungle].

Last song/track you listened to?

Let Me Live by Rudimental and Major Lazer

Who controls the locker room music on your team?

If you could have coffee with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

I don’t drink coffee, but if I were to have hot chocolate with someone, it would be Beyoncé.

Most expensive thing you’ve ever bought?

I’d have to say vacation trips.

If you could relive one memory, what would it be?

I would say the game we played against Denmark, when [Sweden] qualified for the World Cup.

What do you think you’d be doing if you weren’t playing soccer/football?

If I weren’t playing football I probably would have my own company. Maybe something in soccer or finance.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

In five years, I see myself still playing football somewhere, hopefully.

Do you have any advice for younger players trying to go pro?

The advice I would give other players is to never doubt yourself, just keep believing in what you’re doing, and have fun.
